Happy New Year and welcome to Three to a Room's new website!
Currently, the team is in the process of confirming a venue and making other arrangements for the coming journey to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The Edinburgh Fringe is the largest festival of its kind in the world. In 2006 it offered 28,000 performances in 261 different venues and 1,338,550 tickets were sold. The population of Edinburgh triples during Fringe time with almost one million people visiting the city!
The founders of Three to a Room were there in 2006, participating in White Whale Theatre's production of Macbeth Re-Arisen. We had such an awe inspiring and successful time that we're going to do it again with Darragh Martin's An Air Balloon Across Antarctica, a play full of beauty and emotion.
We look foward to the challenges and rewards of embarking on a project of this kind and welcome you to check back sometime as we keep you updated on our progress. |

Introducing: Our fabulous director and fantastic cast! Check out the new Cast and Crew page for the latest team members to come on board the project.
Also joining the team is Laura Maitland, our publicity officer, and she has already been hard at work organising some brilliant fundraising events for Air Balloon. The first will be a trivia night for late April / early May. The second, a movie night, and the third a spectacular party to celebrate the beginning of our performance seasons in early July.
Official dates and venues will follow, so check back on this website, or subscribe to the mailing list to keep updated. However, we have confirmed the details for our movie night, so record the following in your diaries!
Friday May 25th - Pirates of the Carribean III: At World's End (opening night!) @ Palace Cinemas in St Kilda. Brush up on your pirate slang and prepare for a night of swashbuckling buccaneers and ships ahoy!

Thank you to all our friends and supporters who attended our brilliant trivia night last week. It was a huge success and it's awesome to see and feel how much love and support we have for our project.
Led by our Melbourne publicity manager, Laura, the quiz was a challenge - testing both general knowledge and moral character (everyone had to mark their own answers!). I would like to congratulate the winning team: Charlie's Angels!

Winners are grinners: Charlie's Angel's at the 3TAR trivia night fundraiser!
Many thanks go to our generous sponsors who provided prizes for the night. Como Cellars for some delicious wine, Peta Hanrahan & La Mama Theatre for two tickets to Shrimp and a copy of the script, Ego Health and Beauty for the hotly contested one hour massage, and Groove Train (Melbourne Central) for the dinner voucher.

20th July 2007
Our Melbourne Fundraising Season was a huge success with sellout audiences on four of the five nights! Three to a Room would like to acknowledge the incredible support of friends, family and peers throughout all stages of this production. We have had healthy crowds to all of our fundraising events (which is fortunate, because we didn't recieve any funding for this show) and we are constantly amazed at the consistent and enthusiastic support the community has given us. It is quite humbling.
The raffle was drawn on the last performance of the season, and thanks must go to Balloon Sunrise and Wicked Laugh Designs for their generous donations of prizes. Congratulations to the four winners - we hope you enjoy your winnings!
We were reviewed twice during the one week season, testament to the phenomenal work of our publicist Laura. You can read the two reviews on this website.
The production begins its journey to Scotland tomorrow! We hope to make you proud!

Attention playwrights: Three to a Room is currently seeking submissions from emerging playwrights to be considered for their 2008 season and beyond! New projects will be developed simultaneously with the current ongoing tour of An Air Balloon Across Antarctica.
We welcome submissions of any length, genre and cast size, although plays with a smaller cast that are able to be edited to between 45 and 70 minutes in length may have some advantage due to touring restrictions. We will continue to welcome submissions throughout the coming year, to be kept on file for future consideration.
To apply, please email your clearly marked submission to contact@threetoaroom.com, or mail to 138 Surrey Rd North, South Yarra VIC 3141. Additional materials including your CV / bio, play history, synopsis and script recording are welcomed but not essential.

Announcing Three to a Room's fundraiser for our Adelaide season!

Cherry Pie Cabaret
An Evening of Burlesque, Circus, Music and Bawdiness.
Hitting the East Brunswick Club on Thursday, January 31st 2008. |
Headlining the evening will be local favourites Dandelion Wine, presenting their unique brand of ethereal post-dream-pop with medieval overtones, and riotously raunchy queens of burlesque, Mechante Chatte from the Voodoo Trash Dolls with Miz Zhing. Supporting musical acts include acoustic duo Fearon & Rough and the ever-popular roller-coaster pop music of James Vivian.
A veritable feast of circus, burlesque and vaudeville-style entertainment will garnish the evening, including nail-biting rolla bolla from Douglas Bair (USA), feats of adagio from James Holt and Chloe Richards, magical interludes from Alex de la Rambelje, and wildly inappropriate comedy from Randy the puppet.
Internationally acclaimed theatre company, Three to a Room, is thrilled to be presenting this sublimely seedy evening of entertainment, in conjunction with renowned live music and performance venue, the East Brunswick Club (280 Lygon St, Brunswick East). The evening is in support of Three to a Room’s upcoming season of An Air Balloon Across Antarctica at the 2008 Adelaide Fringe Festival.
